Welcome to the Website of Gail Dayton.
August 16, 2008
AND, I have ONE (1) copy of New Blood to give away to some lucky newsletter subscriber. I didn't snitch many copies from the book signing, and have managed to hang onto one for a subscriber prize, plus some island swag. (I generally collect most of the swag folks give to the reporters at my part-time dayjob, so I can share it out in prizes. Yeah, it's touristy junk, but it's cool touristy junk...) That's my shameless "Sign Up For My Newsletter" plug. Send me an e-mail with "Subscribe" in the subject line, and I'll sign you up. I don't send them out very often, so you definitely won't be inundated, and I put extra-special treats in them, like first looks at excerpts, or deleted scenes, and especially prizes to be won. So it's a good deal. Really. In the meantime, even though I don't have the cover yet, and I don't have my excerpt up yet, y'all can go see what I DO have on the new book on My Books page. May 2, 2008
I'm dreadfully sorry things are all in a mess, and I'll do my very best to get it straightened out ASAP. March 29, 2008 I've had some good news! (And if you read my
blog you'd know it already).
It's a three-book deal, with Old Spirits (my title) scheduled in the
spring of 2010, and the third book (which still hasn't got a title) set for the fall.
That means I'll need to write fast, so I have time to get that third book written.
Tor is one of my dream publishers. I love so many of the books they publish, and
I'm thrilled to be working with them. January 17, 2008 The Eternal Rose has gone back for a second printing.
Yeah, I know. It's been, like, forever since I updated the website. But really,
nothing new has happened. Except life, and that never stops, but it doesn't have
anything to do with the books, which, I know, is why y'all have dropped by to visit
my website. I'm busy writing away on new stuff but as
far as I know, none of it has sold yet. So we're kind of in a holding pattern. I do
update my blog on a more-or-less regular
basis. (If I don't, the daughter nags me.) So if you want to keep an eye on what I'm
doing, you can check by there.
Or you can sign up for my newsletter. (E-mail
to me with "Subscribe" in the subject header.)
Admittedly, I send out a newsletter about as often as I update my website, but I
put good stuff in it. I'm sending one out this week--or maybe next. And I do send the
latest out for a couple of weeks after, to people who sign up late.
If I don't get it sent out by 1 Feb 08, somebody send me an e-mail
and nag me about it. I have "deleted scenes" to send!
Of course, I'm moving to a new renthouse (one without stairs to the front door!)
right around 1 Feb, AND that's Mardi Gras, so... Yeah. I'd better get it done before
then, huh?
(Oh yeah, I did update the pictures in my gallery finally. Check them out.)
If you want to keep up with the very latest info about Gail Dayton, and the books I'm writing and what's going on, skip over to my blog. It's as much about my life as about the writing. Everyday sorts of things like my flowers or my painting, or my family. When things are going well with the writing, I do note it down, as well as the days when I want to beat my head against the desk. You're not going to get stories about me chasing shoplifters down the mall. I'm a writer. I spend my working days sitting in my office, writing stuff at my desk
(I'm one of those freakish throwbacks who writes first drafts in longhand.)
(Yes, I am insane.) (Rollerball pen on college-ruled looseleaf notebook
paper kept in colored manila folders, for those who simply have to know.
And I change from black ink to blue ink and back again every day, so I can tell when I
start and stop for the day.) and staring out the windows when the words
aren't coming. Stop by and say hello. --Gail Dayton
Book Signings and Workshops
I'm doing a workshop for the Houston Bay Area RWA chapter in
April. Not sure of the date, but it will be the third Tuesday of the month. In case you're
in Houston somewhere around then.
