This painting is from a photo I took of the Paloduro Canyon from the top.
I liked the way the canyon floor seemed to flow, like a river. The more
I look at it, the more I'm beginning to like it.
This one was an experiment in painting over a black underpainting. It's
a copy of another artist's lovely painting, and worked very, very well using
the black underneath. I think I got a little reflection when I photographed it...
Gave this one to my friend Joburta for a housewarming present when they
moved to Wellington. Miss seeing her every Sunday...
I painted this over black as well. These are some of the bluebonnets
that came up in one of my flowerbeds. And yes, one of them was actually that
shade of pink. (Of the bluebonnets that came up this year, two plants
have pink flowers, and one has lots of flowers...)
This is a movie set built in Iceland for
a Viking movie. This one is on the "willing to give it away" list. I like it,
but have nowhere for it.
I painted this from a photograph "loaned" to me by my sister-in-law.
They went to Italy on vacation and took this picture somewhere in Tuscany.
(She doesn't remember exactly where.) So I snitched the picture and painted
this. I found a perfect spot for the painting on my wall--she can have it
when I paint something I like better. (wink)
And this is a smaller (8x10) oil of pears.
I've decided I can manage faces
as long as most of it is hidden. This is one of my favorites. I finished it last fall, but didn't get
around to taking a picture of it till I brought the new painting home.
The painting was boring and the highlights on the leaves looked like white
paint smeared on the leaves until I painted the shadow on the sand.
Instantly, everything took on amazing depth and really looked fabulous.
Which is why I love it. The spouse's favorite is still the little boy
on the swing (which is on the next page of paintings--I've been
doing this a while. Have lots of paintings).
This one looks brighter than the photo, I think. Still like it. It's
a church in Texas, down somewhere around Westphalia or Brenham or Lagrange...
